About IGT
The Origin of the Video Slot
International Game Technology was founded in 1975 in Reno, Nevada. A year later, its Fortune Coin machine became the first electronic slot to replace mechanical reels with a video display — a development so significant that Bally Technologies (a competitor) purchased the patent rights and defined an entire era of casino floor design. IGT went on to produce Wheel of Fortune (the best-selling slot machine in US casino history), Cleopatra (a defining Egyptian-theme title), and the Megabucks progressive jackpot network.
The transition to online was structured around port logic: taking proven land-based titles and adapting them for digital play. Da Vinci Diamonds, Double Diamond, and Wolf Run retain the same core mechanics that made them successful on physical floors. The advantage is that these titles arrive with 20+ years of player preference validation. The disadvantage is that they feel their age against digitally native releases from studios with no land-based heritage to defend.
Online Catalogue Structure
IGT’s online catalogue of 600+ titles divides into three segments: classic three-reel and five-payline games for traditional markets; branded titles (Wheel of Fortune, Monopoly); and newer video slots with contemporary bonus features for digital operators. The newer releases show clear influence from successful mechanicdesigns pioneered by European studios, applied to themes and properties where IGT holds longstanding recognition advantages.

Editor’s Verdict
IGT's historical importance to the industry is unchallengeable, but their online slot releases feel designed around land-based conversion economics rather than pure digital-first gameplay — the RTP configuration reflects this.
